Leptospirosis is an infectious disease of humans and animals that is caused by pathogenic spirochetes of the genus Leptospira. It is considered the most common zoonosis in the world and is associated with rodents in settings of poor sanitation, agricultural occupations, and increasingly "adventure" sports or races involving fresh water, mud, or soil exposure.
The sign and symptoms of leptospirosis ranges in severity from mild illness to a multisystemic syndrome. The affected patient experienced a high fever, headache, dry cough, nausea and vomitting, diarrhea, and muscle pain.
Recently, a teenager named Jonel Bandalan Bohol Ausa of Davao, a 20 year old teenager suffered this kind of illness ended up to his death. His cousin posted in facebook how it was happened.
Last January 26 of this year, Jonel suddenly had a fever and experienced symptoms of leptospirosis. He was confined in the hospital for 5 days but still leads him into death. At his early age sometimes we will think that with just this people are in danger.
This will be a reminder, be aware of the food we are eating specially if it was exposed uncovered.
